Steve Purcell has created some tip-top new Sam & Max art for the 2024 Baltimore Comic-Con auction. The painting is a 12 x 15" delight, with Sam and Max surfing the highway alongside spooky chums. You can see it go from outline to final form below.
If you fancy trying to win it, the auction takes place in person on 21st September, but you can submit a proxy bid by 16th September 9pm Eastern Time—details are on the auction page.
You will need deep pockets, though. Last year's art went for $10,000.
The funds raised go towards the Hero Initiative, which "creates a financial safety net for comic creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work".
While the winner gets the original painting, Steve noted on Facebook that he could still make a print of this in the future. Here's hoping!
